ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

In accordance with its Environmental Policy, SIBUR is committed to ensuring environmental safety and protection of human health and the environment as an integral component and one of the strategic priorities of our activities.

SIBUR implements comprehensive and continuing efforts to minimize the environmental impact of our operations. In 2008, SIBUR implemented a Corporate Environmental Management System (CEMS) to the standard ISO 14001:2004, following the guidelines of our Environmental Policy. The effectiveness of our Corporate Environmental Management System (CEMS) is evidenced by the successful outcomes of annual independent audits for compliance with the ISO 14001:2004 international standard.

The environmental management system transforms SIBUR’s environmental management into a more effective process, from the stage of project development to production and ancillary activities, ensuring that environmental safety is in place in normal operations and when responding to emergencies. Continuous improvements in our corporate governance system, which is based on the principles of vertical integration, strategic planning, resource allocation, common corporate standards, regulations and policies, result in our CEMS becoming more effective .

Every year, SIBUR sets corporate environmental goals and KPIs for the individual levels and functions within the Company based on the priorities of the production and environmental safety areas that need improvement. These goals become the basis for specific objectives and programs aimed at implementing the Environmental Policy. Such objectives then become part of the annual environmental programs at each company within the Group.

SIBUR also strives to ensure compliance with international environmental regulations.
